> Does the Sunbrella also insulate a bit better, being a thicker product? > What about rain resistance? Breathability?
It's not that Sunbrella is thicker than the cotton canvas, it's just less pliable and therefore harder to fold. It is less breathable than cotton canvas. This may make it a bit of a better insulater in the winter, but I'm guessing that it could also make the interior somewhat stifling on a hot summer day as compared to the more breathable canvas. With regard to rain resistance, the cotton canvas does tend to absorb some rain (get wet) but even in heavy rain I have never seen it allow any rain to penetrate into the camper. The Sunbrella is less absorbant, so it might dry out a bit faster after an extended period of rain, but in terms of preventing water from actually getting inside the camper they're both good. - Ron Salmon The Bus Depot, Inc.
