Dennis... The injectors are quite simple. They get constant power from the O2 sensor relay. The Ecu give is injectors their ground so they "fire" - this is controlled by pin 25/12... Make sure this circuit is OK before you start looking for an ECU. If the ECU is shot, I have some spares if you need one.

Hey gang, Went to start the engine in my I-4 conversion for the first time this past weekend , stopped trying when I saw raw gas dripping out the head pipe. It seems that both the fuel pump and the fuel injectors are on constantly whenever the key is in the run position. My engine management system is 1989 golf GL Digifant II. I have checked my wiring harness to insure that all wires go to the correct terminals on the ecu and sensors. checked them all for continuity and for shorts to each other or to ground. All wires between the ecu and the various sensors was left intact and uncut. All ground connections in the original wiring harness were also retained and connected to the same locations on the van. The wires that interface with the van(91 carrat 4 sp.) are connected as follows.

wirecolor ecu ter. connected to: fucntion BR ing. mod. ter. chassis ground #2 Y ing mod ter. coil + ing. pwr. #4 BR/G #3 digifant ter #85 fuel pwr. to injectors + pump relay Fuel pump W/BK #12 ecu fuel injectors injector neg.

G/W #14 ecu ter.87 pwr. pwr. to ecu Supply relay

BR #13 ecu chassis ground ecu ground BR #19 engine ground ecu ground BK/R #1 Starter ter. 50 start signal to ecu

I suspect that the ecu is faulty(purchased at the local pick and pay untested for $25).However I want to be sure I did not overlook something before I try another ecu, which brings me to my second Question.Does anybody on the list have a good digifant II ecu they want to sell? (cheaply?) Thanks in advance Dennis Atkins

P.S. A belated thank you to all who responded to my fuel line post last week. I was able to return the suspect fuel line and ordered the correct line from bus depot.....Thanks
