Avoid prying on the edges, especially around the bottom. They will leak if you distort the sealing flange. Don't use any type of sealant. New covers are cheap, as are the bails. See Bus Depot if you have a damaged cover.

Hey folks, I'm planning on replacing the valve cover gaskets on my 82 this weekend. Anyone have any tips or things I should know? Seems pretty simple to me. Flip off those spring clamp things, take out the old, put in the new.
