Subject:      Tranny woes

Just installed a 4spd tranny I bought used.

No first or second gear.  The shift lever goes into the positions, but
nothing.  No rumble or grind, even with the clutch not depressed (I'm
depressed, though).

Any ideas from the list tranny gurus?  Doesn't feel like a linkage
adjustment thing.
