I got rid of my wife before acquiring my Westy, so I can't testify to the effect of the latter on the former (pun intended).

However, after officially "christening" the Westy this weekend, I proudly call it "The Luv Box."

Chris.

P.S. Does anyone have an idea on the noise attenuation of a Westfalia with the pop-top closed? Not many people at the campground this weekend anyway...

Yes. You can have a wife, a van and a job. Just not simultaneously.

Mike Currently without wife [what happen to the van dating service?] without a job [they're lying to you, retirement is MUCH better than they tell you] and I think the van owns me [latest thing, driving lights. how can a vehicle famous for slow have inadequate headlights?]
