First of all, I'd like to thank all of you who responded to my question
about my cold shifting problem and synthetic tranny oil.  Bottom Line: looks
like Redline MT-90 is the transmission lube of choice.

Now to changing drive belts (AC, power steering) on my '89 vanagon GL.  I
can't believe
VW routed a coolant line inside
the belts.  I have no intention of compromising my cooling system by
disconnecting
this coolant line -- bleeding
air out of the system is such a pain.  Any suggestion on how to disconnect
the coolant line
without ingesting air, spilling that precious green fluid, etc?  I searched
the archives and
did not find any info.  Bentley has nothing to say about the coolant line in
the very
brief belt change section.

In the mean time, I will look into routing this coolant line around the
belts and
let everyone know what I find.
