This would fall under point #4 - Alternate solutions I found a sunshade that fits in the pop-top opening to replace the cardboard one that I had used previously. It serves two purposes, it reflects heat and light coming in via the roof vent and keeps the air from the AC outlets out of the poptop area. I have a photo of mine installed at http://photos.yahoo.com/tjhannink - Select [Vanagon]
Its made by Axius www.axius.com and is called the RV Twist Shade is 48" x 42" and folds to a circle about 15" in diameter when not in use. One side is a reflective silver, while the other is a tan/gold color. Axuus has discontinued this particular model but it is still available at Camping World http://www.campingworld.com/browse/skus/index.cfm?deptID=&subOf=131&skunum=18608 for $19.99. You get two shades so share one with a friend.
I also have a set of the smaller Jumbo Twist Shades that I use in my windshield when parked. The smaller sizes are available at most discount chains in a variety of colors.
