I would suggest to do proofing on coated paper as it's a lot closer to the real thing. I've had noticeably superior results (on HP printers) using HP paper rather than Kodak (acceptable) or Hammermill (lousy). They all cost about the same. Make sure your printer can handle the paper you use -- HP makes some nice thick stuff that works in for example the 930 but not in the 895. david ps -- for passport picture, who cares about the color (my last one was b/w anyway)?
