Hi Myron, Tubing benders which can bend tubing over 3/4" OD tend to be in the $2000 - $20,000 dollar range. Conduit benders cannot do what would be needed for coolant pipes. I happen to have a proper bender because that is what is needed to build the Vanagon cargo racks I make. To see a rotary draw bender try http://www.ercolina.com/WEBTED/INGMAIN.html Its not something that you would purchase for just one, or even a few jobs. On vehicles where pre-formed coolant hose is Very expensive or unobtainable, I will go the junkyard and buy a whole bunch of pre-bent hose and metal tube off various vehicles. I will then cut it up and splice it together to suit my needs. Use metal tube and hose clamps to join rubber hose together. With a combination of bent metal tubing and pre-formed rubber hose elbows and angles, you can come up with anything you may need. I've never done this with a diesel vanagon though, so this may be of no help to you at all. Good luck Gary Lee http://www.telusplanet.net/public/gary2a/rack/vanagonrack.htm
