Subject: Third battery?
Content-type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII"

In the spirit of more is always better, do any of you electronic Guru's have have any thoughts or experiences on adding a third battery to a Westfalia?

I already have a dual battery setup in my Synchro with two conventional lead acid batteries under the seats. In the future I plan on installing an Optima in place of the second battery under the driver seat.

I was considering adding another Optima to the system back in the engine compartment in the space formerly occupied by my air intake. I just did a Tiico conversion and now the compartment in the right side of the engine is vacant. I also upgraded my alternator to a 140 amp unit while I was doing the conversion. More is better right?

Am I getting carried away, or would this give me even more reserve power for camping? Would the wiring be too complicated?

Thanks,

Jon
