Todd,

This was recently addressed on The List, but I won't condemn you to that particular form of Hell known as the archive search.

The fasteners for the central lock, which you called the rear latch, may be loose. The fasteners are countersunk No. 3 Philips which can be tightened with the door in place if a right angle driver is used. If the central lock is secure, the position of the striker pin which the central lock engages may have shifted. This can be seen by from its outline in the paint. It is best to return the striker pin to its original position and tighten it before any adjustments are made. Remember when adjusting these things, a little movement makes a big difference.
