After looking in the archives, it definately sounds like the brake master cylinder. I am going to make an attempt to change it myself. I have my brother to help me if it gets too complicated. I printed out the instructions to change it out, off the vanagon list. Thank goodness for archives. Anyway, thanks for the heads up. I am new at this mechanic stuff. : )
