Mike,

I had the same problem. I found a local guy that comes out to your house and
removes broken studs and repairs bunged threads on site. He had bag full of
tricks to remove broken stud and do as little damage to the remaining
threads as possible. Under my Van, in the driveway and in the rain. Cost
about $75. A lot less than removing the head and taking it in to the machine
shop. Look in your local yellow pages.

Or you could try marinating the stud in penetrating oil, drill out the
center and use an easy-out tool. However, if you have used as much muscle as
I think you have, and it did not budge, that will probably only make you
swear more and ultimately damage the threads.
