Subject: NEW VANAGON!! and how do I clean the interior?
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"; format=flowed

Finally, after looking for what seemed to be an eternity, I found a Vanagon in good condition that we could afford. Talked the POs down 500 smackers and the deal was done. '91 Vanagon Carat Weekender, 150k miles, VW replaced the heads 50K ago. Drove her 1 and 1/2 hours home and she performed flawlessly. She needs a few things- muffler, antenna, armrests and a GOOD cleaning. The PO used the van to haul plants around. I threw the back cushion cover into the washer and it came out looking brand new (it went in covered with huge stains), so I know the stains can come out, but I checked the archives on cleaning, and didn't come up with much. Any suggestions? I saw someone in the archives say that he removed the fabric from the seats and laundered them, but I don't see my self removing fabric and what not. Has anyone done this? Is it difficult? How about cleaning the plastic? Any cleaners to look for? Although I've owned two buses before this one, the other two were aircooled. They were fun to drive, and so is my Vanagon, but the Vanagon sure is a step up. Heat, A/C, automatic, quiet ride... Thanks, Joel
