William, All westfalia tanks were originally white in color. White is a standard color for propane tanks. To remove propane from a "built in place" tank like the westfalia has, you would need a special "withdrawal" fitting. You would only be able to remove vapor, not liquid. The place you would remove propane from is the fill port and it leads to the top of the tank. The special "withdrawal" fitting has a rod which pushes in to defeat the outer valve and the excess flow valve. You could remove liquid if you turned your van upside down.....
