Hey All,

I've already searched the archives...I just picked up a magnetic mount, bottom loaded, CB antenna with a fiberglass whip on it from radio shack. When I put it on the roof of my 86 GL, I have to turn the squelch 3/4 to 7/8 of the way up and the signal (RX) leds are lit past halfway all the time (I do live in a city with 2 major highways). Is this normal?

Previously, I was using a glass-mount that was tuned to 1.5 SWR. The new mag mount tunes down to almost nothing when on the van and 1.5 when off.

I plan on using the new antenna for my holiday road trip to see the in-laws 1000 miles away beginning this sunday.

Am I worried about nothing?
