I have been wondering, now that the engine I bought from you has a few thousand miles on it, what is a reasonable rev limit for a stock 2.1? Mine has the longer duration cam, if that has any affect.

So far, I have been trying to stick to about 4200 RPM Max on the highway, the top of the green stripes. That's an indicated 70 mph on my '87 Westfalia.

Grinding up hills in 3rd, it's about 52.

The engine willingly revs a lot higher, but I have been cautious. Most likely 10 minutes going uphill at 5000 won't be any problem. What do you think is a reasonable limit, for how long, and why?
