Jon and other interested parties,

This is exactly the point I was trying to make in my post about conversions and the smog control program in California. As I indicated at the time, with closed loop operating capability (O2 sensor working in the control circuit) and deep pockets on the part of the importer, the problem can eventually be solved. Without that solution, the resale value in CA will be zilch. If there has been a local pass, you are still liable for severe penalties if stopped at one of the random smog compliance checkpoints and they discover that no compliance has been issued for your vehicle.

For those outside CA imbibing sweet liqueurs and reveling in the sure knowledge that this doesn't apply to you .... be aware that these rules and standards are rapidly being adopted throughout the county. Typically without grandfathering in the enforcement clauses.

As I said in my previous post, I feel it is incumbent on the purveyor of the full kit to get CAR approval. Otherwise, its the PDBWBI who pays through the posterior.
