Mike,

I'll admit that my illustrative expletive of air cleaner to tailpipe overreached the fact by hundreds of millimeters. Cat back is legal. However, the K&N air cleaner replacement to cone filters has been often cited because of disabling the heated air intake (from the exhaust manifold surround) for the cold start sequence. Totally agree on the precedence of Napoleonic Law.

As to the legislator DNA and gene expression issue, I will only note that I had to place them infinitesimally incrementally higher category since many of them made it through law school.
