Today I was totally frustrated going to 2 Costco stores in San Diego county expecting to find an Optima battery for under $100. Well I drove 40 miles to Vista CA there and back to find the Optima they had was the red top "starting" battery an not the yellow top deep cycle battery. Maybe I misunderstood the lead someone on the list gave, but I think more specific details will help us all not spend time and money chasing down a bargain that is not there. I did love the Sylvania 9004XV lead for headlight bulbs. That was a handy savings. I suppose there might be value in using the red top for a starting battery by laying it on its side because it is too tall for the box behind the passenger seat, and it might be safer because it is sealed. It did cost $99 which is what the VW battery costs from the dealer.
