I worked a VW parts importer in the later 80s and we used to import crew cab kits from VW of Brazil.

They were complete kits, but the drivetrain wasn't installed. They didn't even have ID numbers yet. We instructed customers to buy a junk 68-71 bus and use that VIN after you crush the bus. Sold 5 or 6 of them before the supply disappeared.

Would be nice if VWSA would consider that, eh?
