I cranked mine over, 1.8 RV Digifant 2, for the first time a couple of days ago. The fuel pump doesn't run, so I need to check to find if it is good or if the wiring needs some revision...you are ahead of me sinc4e yours ran.

I used the single outlet swivel-manifold that came with the engine, cut the "socket" off the downpipe, welded to it, so it would head forward, a 1 3/4" O.D. mandrel-bent 90° elbow cut on an aproximate 20° bias at the beginning of the curvature to keep it from being lower than the oilpan, cut the 90° again leaving 1" of "leg" after the end of curvature on which to attach a length of 1 3/4" I.D. 304 stainless flex-hose. This curves behind the axle, is on the outside of the left carrier bar, and attaches to the '82 Vanagon diesel Muffler/tailpipe. No cat. yet...first I want to get it running.
