Only the 1800 and 2000 (maybe also the 1700) had an engine hatch; the 1600, not sold in USA, didn't.

Deck height is better but there is still likely to be a clearance problem, at least with some inline or V engines... had to raise the deck on my 75 about 3cm to clear a carbureted 3.6-liter alloy pushrod Toyota V8.
