Subject: Accurate subject lines

I belong to several lists and this subject line thing is a problem on every list and newcomers especially have difficulty wading through the archives. And busy people who have no interest in some subjects are forced to read stuff rather than delete and move on.

Habit is a powerful thing. To encourage a group like ours to check the subject lines before sending is like trying to train a cat. When you least expect it the cat goes back to doing just as it pleases. If you own a cat you know what I mean.

Building new and positive habits takes effort but it is worth it in the long run.

I know, I know. I make the same mistake too. I'm just saying it is worth the effort and worth encouraging each other to remember.

One thing I have noticed about this group is that the messages from the more mechanically expert of this group always seem to have very accurate and specific subject lines. Very efficient. Just like a German mechanic.

One thing I have noticed about German mechanics is their cleanliness and orderliness. In one local German shop you could eat off the floors they are so clean.

I won't bring it up again, I promise (that is, unless I use an inaccurate subject line.)

William
