Subject: Another Electric Blanket Option .. although not cheap
Comments: cc: mjruskin@HOME.COM

Folks,

Marshall recently posted a great idea ... using a "12V Elect Blanket" in our beloved Vans.

I wanted to share a similar second option for consideration. Although, I'll tell you right up front, the purchase price isn't cheap.

I recently installed a similar product used in the trucking industry. Rather than a blanket that goes on top of you, its a pad that goes on top of your mattress.

ElectroWarmth® Bunk Warmers

The manufacturer developed and built the first 12 volt Bunk Warming Pad for trucks 20 years ago

The on the mattress system puts all the heat in the bed. For maximum efficiency and comfort, the heat needs to be underneath you. Electric blankets are not as effective since they lose half the heat directly into the air.

Plugs into the lighter socket. Pre-warms bunk and gets rid of dampness. Automatic Comfort Control thermostat regulates heat based upon the setting you select (1 - 7). It adjusts the heat in the bunk for any change in van temperature. As the van cools, it supplies just the right amount of extra heat to keep you comfortable.

Highly Efficient - the "on the mattress" system with automatic Comfort Control converts 98% of the battery power consumed to heat. Average current usage is about 3 amps. ElectroWarmth® Bunk Warmers do not cause battery or starting problems.

Since rated amperage listed is maximum if it is on 100% of the time, the average load on the battery system is 50% or less of rated amperage

Model T42 Size 42" x 60" / 12 Volt / 80 Rated Watts / Average Amps 6.67 .... Price $82.50
