Subject: Clutch Slave Cylinder Bleed problem
Content-type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII

I just spent a few minutes reading the archives on this topic but my question was not answered (not that I could find).

I knew that my slave cylinder was going - I could see drips and the rubber boot squished when squeezed. I made an appointment with my trusted mechanic for today, but when I got in the van, the clutch pedal just went to the floor with no resistance.

This afternoon I have put 1 & 3/4 bottles of DOT4 brake/clutch fluid (at CDN$12/bottle) through the front reservoir in an attempt to bleed the clutch slave cylinder. Each time I open the bleed screw, I get some air out of it (like a wet fart), but after nearly 2 bottles of the stuff - still no clutch action from the slave cylinder.

Background info: Brakes work OK and were bleed last year. The fluid reservoir (up front) was nearly empty when I first tried the clutch. I see no leaks up under the master cylinder.

How much fluid should it take to bleed the clutch slave cylinder?????? Thanks, Malcolm
