David,

I would like to suggest that being on digest mode is probably the worst way to experience a high volume email list like this unless you do the following.

1. Get a good stand alone email program. Find one that can do the following. Many are free.

2. Setup a VW folder, setup folders for other aspects of your email life.

3. Send your VW email there via mail rules. Read it at your leisure, or delete it. This way it will not clog up your important email. In addition you can usually sort the folder by email subject and see all the emails that deal with (and reply to) a single topic. You can also readily trash the kitchen articles, humor, canadian jokes and those eurovan comments if you wish.

4. Don't use digest mode, it is easier to keep track of the email.

5. If you must use digest, burst the digest into it's component emails [into your VW folder]. Now you can follow #3 above. Delete the original digest. This is what is key in an email program for high volume lists and digest mode.

6. Now if you wish to reply you will not be sending an email back with the digest number in the subject, you will actually have the subject there, one of the common mistakes that comes out of digest readers. [not that I have ever observed your posts]
