Subject: Re: Fan belt tightening-- When to do it?
Comments: To: BenTbtstr8@aol.com

Isn't it fun you all, to be back on topic again?

Ben, The "geared adjuster nut" sounds like a great improvement. Can you tell me more? Send photos? Or send me to an URL with one?

I assume this is something a "so far naive amateur like me" can do and save the mechanic labor fees? I don't mind learning. I would like to.

I will first try the white lithium grease idea my mechanic suggested. He said WD40 works but does not last.

Karl, does the brake fluid wipe last? And is it similar to the WD40 solution? Do I assume correctly that both are temporary fixes?

I will definitely replace the fan belts if I go to Mexico. I always carry spares.
