Subject: Disappointed with List- Friday Off Topic
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII"

Since it is Friday, I can post something off topic and I would like to talk about hypocrisy. This is the idea of saying one thing and acting in a contradictory manner or demanding a standard from someone else that you, yourself, do not hold to.

There is hypocrisy on the list and it is troubling to me.

This past week long time List Member Ray Hunnam posted an off topic post to the list during a normal weekday. This was wrong since we have designated Friday as a day to post off-topic things. A single email addressing this would have been sufficient. Instead we get about 20 off-topic email postings telling Ray this his email was off-topic. Is this hypocritical? Yep!

Second thing that rubs me the wrong way is that many of these postings deride Ray for sharing his religious views with the list, only to have the poster share his or her own personal religious views. "I am an atheist, a Darwinian, or I don't like Billy Graham." Isn't it hypocritical to ask Ray to not share his religious and then take the liberty to share your own?

The bottom line is that if you want to post an off-topic post, do it on Friday. That is all that has to be said. If you want other people on this list to keep their religious views to themselves, then my advice is to also keep your own religious views to yourself. Or if you want to share your religious views with others then don't be upset when someone else does the same thing. That way everyone is treated fairly.

I just feel this had to be said. (Wow he didn't even mention the "G"-word!!!) :)

Have a great Friday!
