My particular model Dometic fridge does not run on propane, only 12 VDC and 110 VAC as I stated in my original message. Since I don't have the "luxury" of swapping over to propane when parked, the auxiliary battery installation becomes more of an issue for me. VW chose to install a regular starting battery and a relay system in my camper which works great 98% of the time. It doesn't work as well when you need to stop for more than a couple of hours somewhere. I'm not trying to run the fridge all night, just 6-8 hours every once in a while (like when I am at the beach), and with the stock set-up, you can't do that (well, you can do it once).

Why would you run the 'fridge on a battery anyway? It works much better on propane, and just takes a minute to light.

<snip> Since the refrigerator in the Wolfsburg Camper model runs on only 110VAC and 12VDC, some people (including me) tend to leave it plugged in while parked, totally dis-charging the auxiliary battery. <snip> --
