I wanted to kick the old Battery Subject horse one more time. My battery died last week. (VW battery from '95) Remembered someone said an Optima would fit with no problem. Pulled the optima out of my Land Cruiser, shoved it in the Westy and the terminals stick up about an inch! so much for that idea. Walmart has a $39 battery with equivalent specs, so I dropped that in. A cheap solution that I expect to last no more than a year. I noticed the battery box cover was sealed with foam tape. Is this to prevent possible Hydrogen ignition? If so, is relocating the battery under the rear bench seat a potential problem waiting to happen? And how do you jumpstart these things ??? Looks like a PITA.- remove the pass seat, unscrew cover, somehow connect positive jump cable to battery without shorting out, Arrrghhh! Has anyone rigged up exterior jumpstart terminals?
