Thanks to Ken Hunter & Al Knoll for persistently encouraging me to take a stab at bleeding my van's coolant myself--& to all who offered helpful hints re the process, i.e. where to *find the rear heater valve, etc. LOL! Since there's no sufficient incline on my land, no tach on my van, & no neighborhood kid to keep their foot on the accelerator, I called my neighborhood auto repair shop. It's an old fashioned place where the mechanics smile & laugh, customers are allowed to *watch work being done---& discuss the bill & the work after. For $32 they "loaned" me a nice kid who jacked up my van & attached a Snap On tachometer. He'd never bled a Vanagon before, but I'd come prepared with a print out of instructions, compiled from list suggestions. We bled it twice & an hour later it was done! And we didn't even break the bleeder valve screw! I wouldn't hesitate to tackle this proceedure *anywhere again. Now, back to my packing. Cheers, Phaedra '85 Wolfsburg Westy "Basecamp" |
