Jahan, Most likely the latch on the rear of the door. It eather needs adjusting so it properly latches when it's closed or maybe just needs lubricated. When it is latching properly it's noticable when it locks. If it needs adjusting, loosen the bolts a little on the piece that's on the body and move it outward ever so slightly, retighten and test. If it's adjusted too tight it won't completly latch. Too loose and the rear of the door will stick out a little in the rear. As I am driving, the sliding door on my 91 Westy will suddenly pop open about a quarter inch. I can hear air rushing in. It doesn't open any farther because of the safety catch. This happens whether the door is locked or unlocked. It will sometimes open when I drive over a pothole or speed bump, but other times, with no provocation at all. Needless to say, it scares by rear seat passengers a bit. Any advice on which part needs to be replaced, or is a re-alignment of the door in order? Thanks. --- Jahan Byrne --- 91 Westfalia --- Berkeley, CA --- jahanbyrne@earthlink.net |
