Subject: rollover accident in a 1971 VAN
Content-Type: TEXT/PLAIN; charset=US-ASCII

Well....just had a nasty rollover accident yesterday in a 1971 Westfalia. Drunk Driver hit us on I-5 in Washington. We slid all over, knocking out concrete barriers, and finally tipping. Every window broke, almost every item inside looks shaken apart, but my partner and I crawled out through the windshield opening. Barely a scratch on either of us. Minor aches and pains. Cannot believe how lucky we are!

My question: anyone else have to deal with an accident caused by a non-insured, drunk, suspended license, barely employed individual? My insurance company says that we won't get compensated for work time missed, minimal for rental car, none for property damage, etc. etc. because the drunk driver had no insurance. I have never sued anyone, but think this may be the only way to get some monetary compensation. My partner and I are self employed and work contract...so no sick time. AND rental cars are expensive!

Also, I'm in the process of purchasing a 1990 Westfalia and wonder how safe they really are? (yes...I've searched on the archives and found some valuable info....but always craving more).

thanks! Sue
