I welded a swivel in my passanger seat. It is nice and was easy to do, but there are some things to consider. 1) the batter door needs chopping in half to clear the swivel 2) the seat is about 1.5" higher and about 1" closer to the dash board. 3) the armrest (in my 84) hits the door pull (on the door). But is is nice to have on trips i'll admit! I purchased two of these swivels (chopped out of a dead westy) and only installed one because i didn't the driver's seat to be closer or higher.

BTW, the origional seat fits the swivel. -matthew

I know that there are aftermarket bases out there, but if the parts are readily available from a FLAPS, it would be better than spending $160 apiece for new ones. > > Brian Atkins > 1985 Vanagon GL > 1973 Beetle > -- > > > > > __________________________________________________________________ > Your favorite stores, helpful shopping tools and great gift ideas.
