Hi,

If when you turn the key and there is just a click or no sound at all, then Gene Berg .com has a hard start kit for VW's. There should be an article about it on their web site.

If the engine turns over but doesn't start, Bob Donalds at Boston engine .com posted an article on this list a few weeks ago detailing his problems with hot starts. Oddly enough he found out the VW hydraulic lifters don't always work like they should, they sometimes hold a valve open. His solution was to run the lifters like solid lifters, i.e. .006 clearance cold. Please see Bob Donald's post for all the information.
