Hello fellow wetwesties....

I am usually just a lurker, but need to call upon my fellow poptop owners....

The lifter in my top doesn't lift for me anymore, so when im camping I usually get to push it up ala-lifting weights style. Well I want my fiance to go camping with her friend from out of town and while she is strong in many many ways, she does not have the strength to push it up on her own.

I was lucky enough to find a replacement one with the springs still in tact at pull a part, and have that waiting in the wings. There are a few issues, one is trying to get the bolts off of the current one. Ive broken one off on both sides already, is there something I can put on them to help un-stick them, so they don't break when I try to loosen them?

The second is how I am going to take this off, and put the new one in place. The new one wants to stay extended all the time, so I am going to have to somehow hold the top all the way up and bolt the top in place first... I know this is probably an easy one, but if anyone has any tips or suggestions (if you've done it before?) I would love to hear them before I end up going "Oh, wow - I bet someone else ran into this before... "

Thanks for any info you can pass along......

Christopher and Kellie, 76 westy "jasper"
