Subject:      Wavy Westy pop-top - Normal?

I noticed when sighting down my pop-top that the bottom edge of the pop
top does not seem that straight and true.  I mean with respect to the
width of the van, not form top to bottom.  I do not have the gasket on
the pop-top now, so it it not an optical illusion from that (I do have an
illusion of having a perfect cross-country Vanagon some day however).
The van is an 81 - is this normal considering the year, or age, of the
van?  Anyone else observe this with their pop-tops?
