Not too long ago, the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers) instituted a trial censorship filter on there e-mail Alias service. It blocked the Vanagon list! I was hoping mad when I discovered this tidbit. The censor filters did not last long before they were removed. ENTER SOAP BOX MODE You can't pass laws to protect people from themselves and censorship is either too generic to do any good, or too specific and broad based so as to block material that it should not. I don't believe that Automatic censorship is stable enough technology at this point in time to be effective, and we on the Vanagon (or Syncolist) can not afford to have someone ACTIVELY involved to filter effectively. EXIT SOAP BOX MODE Don't censor the list. Self censorship is far more effective, and when it comes down to it, more interesting to read.
