There seems to be no definitive answer to the valve lifter adjustment. It is often discussed and it is generally accepted that two full turns is less desirable than just one full turn. In effect both Hayes and Bentley are wrong in specifying the full two turns. I'm running mine on a recently rebuilt 2000cc FI Type IV at one full turn and I'm getting good performance and the lifters quieten almost immediately after starting. I'm satisfied that one turn is correct but others will contradict this and since its their engine they have that right. If the one turn gives me problems or causes me to blow an engine I'll rethink this setting but until then I'll be running them at one turn.
