 What does the color of the header has to do with it? closed or not the
headpipes on ANY engine can reach red-orange..Heck I've been running a fire
pump (466 ford) and you could read a book by the manifolds and the muffler 4
feet away was dull red
IF the valves did not fully seat they would last a VERY short time under
those conditons.
But everyone is smarter than the VW engineers...lord knows THEY are a bunch
of screw ups..Long Live Chevrolet!!..
