There's one other thing you might consider, at least from my point of view.

If you will crossing any border's (ie Canada / Mexico) and are randomly picked to be searched. The first thing you might want to tell the agent is the location of this "Hideout".

Of course they already know the best spots in a Westy, probably many more than we came up with. So if they stumble on your laptop location, they may figure you have other, less desirable stuff stashed elsewhere and really tear your Beloved Van apart.

Just a thought.
