have not been down to baja in my van yet, but have been multiple times in various vehicles...the federales may take all of your stuff out of the vehicle or look through it/under it/around it, but they always tried to put everything back where they found it in my experiences...coming back into the USA they have usually just run a dog by the vehicle. the only place no one ever looked was in my kyak (sit on top,hollow)on the roof...
