I've read Boston Bob's piece on lifters and it is very good and well explained. I am hereby stating that I agree with the basic ideas that he is setting out. NOWHERE does his treatise on the lifter really say that VW is WRONG about 2 turns in on a "normal" engine. I believe he is quite clear that SOMETIMES some engines will have a problems that can be traced to collapsed lifters..( and I'm thinking low oil pressure-large clearances elsewhere) There are few details that I could debate and we do perform some types of testing differently (compression gauge? what's that???<grin>) but unless you are having problems don't INVENT problems.... are we all happy now? steve
