This is as bad as the tyre discussions... The answer is: What works for YOU! Check the archives. This discussion comes around at least twice a year and is NEVER resolved.

Me? I prefer the simplicity and low cost of a heavy duty relay. Others prefer the hi-techness of a solid-state isolator. Both do the job.
