Folks, I recently visited the supplier of the mechanically-controlled TDI engines, and am happy to report that they are now offering both the early (AHU / 1Z) engines, as well as the later ones found in the '99-on cars. Both have been converted to a mechanically controlled pump, so will require very little work in the way of electronics. These are both available as a complete engine for $3750 plus freight, possibly slightly less if I can sell several at the same time.

The company also is now offering the 1.9 IDI (non-turbo) engine complete at $3150, and the 1.9 IDI (AAZ) turbo engine at $3350.

And lastly, they now have in production a complete bolt-in kit to replace your Vanagon's waterboxer engine with a brand-new 1.9 non-turbo diesel, all mounts, brackets, hoses, etc, for a complete basic conversion. These are priced at $4500 (remember, every part is brand new!). This conversion mounts the engine in the 'upright' attitude rather than the diesel Vanagon lay-over attitude, for better balance and less vibration. The kit also includes a raised deck lid assembly to provide clearance. Plans are in store to also offer this kit in a TDI version soon, as well as a 2.6 Audi 5-cylinder conversion with 5-speed transmission, as is supplied standard in the SA vans, so stay alert!

If you have an interest in any of these, contact me asap. Thanks!
