Subject: Are Vanagons really that rare
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

Out of curiosity I looked at the Auto Trader web site for Vanagon campers. Found a 1989 syncro camper asking $17,900. I am considering buying a camper for my sister in the Toronto area of Canada if I can find another bargain. The ones for sale now are listed at over $6000 and more than I paid for mine just one month ago. Are they really that rare?

I found a 1989 Vanagon with an automatic transmission at a recycling yard in California with a blown engine for very little money. If I knew how to replace an engine I would buy it and wait until I could find a good rebuilt engine or a junk yard salvaged engine (found one three weeks ago for $850 but its sold now.). But it's not a camper and that's what I'm seeking- for the right rock bottom bargain price.

Seems like all the bargains are gone.
