Subject: further coolant questions
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii
I have discovered what looks like a piece of a staple thru one of the
wires to the sensor that fits into the coolant reservoir...is this
supposed to be there? the sensor seems to work as I emptied some of the
coolant out of the overflow receptacle as it was way over the max line.
Apparently this depleted too much coolant as the light started flashing
tho the gauge itself did not rise. I added some water and it
stopped...in fact it seems the initial problem has been somewhat
assuaged. Could too much coolant and not enough water in the mixture
cause the problem of the gauge rising at an idle??? Regarding bleeding
the system this was supposedly done when the radiator was replaced at
the shop. I am not happy with the way this shop has diagnosed and
handled this problem that I am still not sure has been fully addressed.
I guess I'm happy to have a new radiator and battery but I think I
could have had a couple more years on each. Thanks again for any
further helpful advice,
Rick

btw this problem never occurred before the H flange blew out.
