I have the TiiCo conversion too. No chatter problems, but some ideas. Be
sure that the clutch hydraulics are bled free of air and moisture. An air
bubble in there could allow the release mechanism to bounce. Also be sure
that the bracket holding the clutch slave cylinder is solid. Bolted tight,
no cracks. Last and least fun possibility, any lube leaks getting on the
clutch disc? That'll chatter every time. Drips from the bottom of the
bellhousing? Lube level in engine or tranny dropping?
To tighten the engine motion a bit, I have stuffed various rubber and foam
into the voids in the motor mounts. Best so far (don't laugh): dense foam
rubber from an "indoor" hockey puck.
Right now I'm experimenting with a bracket to tie the right and left motor
mounts together running beneath the engine. The idea being to try to reduce
the engine bounce and engine drone. I cobbled together a rough version,
with very good results. The engine bounce was gone completely. Sometime
soon I'll do a better version and post the results.
Re: the exhaust weld breaking, this is not uncommon. The vibrations put
through the exhaust are violent to say the least. Any marginal work will be
found and cracked to bits. To avoid this, every weld has to be of the best
quality. Any bolted joints have to be substantial and tight. On our TiiCo
I also added braces to the exhaust to absolutely prevent any vibration
induced flexing.
Hope that helps-
Gary
