This thing is *designed* to unhook the battery if you leave any steady load on it long enough to drop the voltage slightly. It will keep your battery from going flat if you leave an inside light on, for example. It will also mean that you have to re-code your radio if you have one of that type. A varying load will keep the battery connected, or reconnect it. For ordinary use the question is whether the cure is worse than the disease (could go either way IMHO depending on circumstances). For deliberate aux-battery-type use it would be a nightmare (but you'd get really good at resetting your clock and recoding your radio). david
